Birthday: Marcell

Ugh, it’s been so hectic for me that I barely had time to update my blog. Yes, it’s soo behind. But I really do intend to get it catch up with the more recent events. I’ve been so busy with my business. Which is actually good. 🙂

Anyway, here are some images from my son’s birthday. He’s 6 years old now.

This was back in March. It was raining on and off on that day. There were some gusty winds as well. It was unfortunate for us because we had planned to setup a  moonbounce. The guy we rented from told us to take down the moonbounce once it started raining. We could get it up again if the rain stopped. We had to take it down and get it up twice that day.

Wedding: Nathalia+Daniel

What else can I say about Nathalia and Daniel. I’ve told about them few posts down. But like I said, they’re always goofing off and having fun, they made my job easier. 🙂

This wedding was in February 2008, in Silver Spring, Maryland, well, at least the ceremony. The reception was at Gaithersburg. Besides the images below, you can see the slideshow here.

Congrats Nathalia and Daniel!

Event: After The Holidays Gala

My blog has finally come to full circle. Well, sort of. Meaning that this won’t be last post of course. 🙂
The first post on this blog started just after I covered this gala event. Now I’m posting about the coverage for the event, 1st Annual After the Holidays Gala, hosted by The Tapestry Church.

The gala was held at the Cross Creek Golf Club in Beltsville, Maryland, a pretty nice venue. The intention for the gala was to raise fund for building churches in Mexico, Kenya, and Nepal. So they had several different programs for fund raising. At the end, the guests were invited to dance. It was an entertaining session for sure! We get to see the dance “experts” do their moves. 🙂 I also like the song selections from the DJ. In fact, they “imported” the DJ from California. Way to go! Well actually, the DJ happened to be visiting the DC area. 😀

The event coordinator wanted me to take pictures of each incoming guests. So I setup a small studio in a corner with lighting and background for formal portraits session. I also had to cover candids (photojournalistic style) as the event unfold. My favorite coverage is actually during the dance session. I sure had fun! 😀

E-session: Nathalia + Daniel

Nathalia & Daniel is one goofy couple. That’s the first thing that comes to my mind whenever I remember the engagement session I had with them in Washington DC back in October 2007.

We sure had a blast during the e-session. I do not have to do much to ease them in front of camera. In fact, they’re the ones that were making jokes, teasing each other. All I had to do mostly was only telling them where to stand. They sure made my job easy. 😀

Portrait: Jessie

Jessie really enjoys being in front of camera and aspire to being a model. We have noticed her talents ever since she was a young girl. Her parents and older brother belong to the same community as my family.

This session took place in September 2007. First we went to Annapolis to search locations for the portrait session. Unfortunately, the location near downtown was not feasible at the time, not to mention that it was already late in the afternoon. We decided to maximize our time at our final location, which is at Sandy Point beach. For those of you who haven’t heard of this beach before, it is on Chesapeake Bay, but still in Anne Arundel County (same county as Annapolis). We also changed our mind on using the location on the other side of the bay, by Hemmingway and by The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, which are both on Kent Island.

Jessie was also very flow in her posing. She was not hesitant at all. Makes my job easier. 😀 I imagine that she could go pro easily.

We sure had fun at the beach. There were not a lot of people there, so it was almost like we had the beach for ourselves. 🙂 We enjoyed the photo session as well as being there, relishing the atmosphere at the beach.

Wedding: Melisa + Fidelis

OK. So I’m still trying to catch up my blog with my past events. Not waaay past, but just from about mid last year. 🙂

The next gig I want to mention is Melisa and Fidelis’ wedding, which was at Rockville, Maryland. It was an honor for me to cover their wedding. I sure had fun. The MC was also very entertaining. I enjoyed the story of how the couple met described by Fidelis’ sister, the best man, and Fidelis himself. I shed a tear during their first slow dance. They played a song from Luther Vandross, “Here and Now”. It was an emotional moment for me probably because I love the song, but I think it’s also because when they danced they showed how they’re sooo in love. I said to myself, “I sure love my job. I get to see and experience all of these”.

Wedding Bridal Session in Annapolis and Kent Island

We did a bridal session with a model last year. Yes, I know it had been a year, but I never got a chance to post about it until now. Although it happened last year, I really wanted to post about the session because my wife and I really enjoyed the session with our model. She was easy going and very professional. She made the session real smooth.

We did the photo session at Annapolis and Kent Island, Maryland. There was one lady who unexpectedly let us use her beautiful house. We also were given permission by a farmer and his family to use their farm for photo location. Bless their kind hearts! The farmer family had a white horse that was very friendly and curious. Probably never saw anyone with a wedding gown before. He sniffed the veil wondering what it was. 😀

Here are some images from the session.

I really enjoyed viewing your website, Leo. Your photos evoke many positive emotions within me. I really like the old fashioned style touch ups you did with the photo of the young lady and the horse. Simply gorgeous.

Soft launch

This blog is hosted on my first website. My own, first Website. Kind of exciting! 😀

I struggled last night (or rather morning) until 4 a.m. posting gallery and creating the homepage for my site. I had to finish it by today (actually yesterday, since it’s already past midnight now) because I had to do a gig few hours ago for a fund raising event, 1st Annual After the Holidays Gala Dinner (what a mouthful 😀 ). I wanted to distribute my promotional postcard. It’s my first postcard too! I listed my contact information including the Web site address. So if I don’t have the site ready, it would be pretty embarrassing if people find nothing on my Web site.

So this is an official announcement for the soft launch of my Web site! Woohoo!

BTW, here’s an image of the postcard in case you’re wondering what it looks like.

LeoDj's first postcard

Thank you Naomi for helping me design the postcard!

Feels good too to be one of the first to arrive at your first own Web site.
Congratulations for the attractive design of the first page, I like the font design. I suppose it is hand painted isn’t it?.
The photographs also are very colorful and clear.
Hope you will have much success with your clients.
This should be sufficient for my first comment.

    Eulogy to Nature

    Each time …
    Looking out of the window
    No matter
    What time of the day
    What time of the season
    I see Life.

    Life …
    In all Her glory
    Come sun shine
    Come rainy days
    Come the soft falling snow

    As presented by Nature
And as meant by the Creator.

    So Alive.
    So Honest.
    So Pure.
    So True.

    Hence …
    It is so beautiful
    and always will be.
As it has nothing to hide
    and has no pretenses.

    If only…

As the highest Artwork of the Creator,
    Can only be,
Like Nature presented us to see,
How wonderful This Life would be.

A road in your eyes would usually lead you astray.
But your heart is true and it can never cheat you.
Therefore for a lot of the time,

My first blog ever!

Yup. The titles says it all. Actually, I’m not much of a talker or writer. I enjoy taking pictures more than doing this. But I want to connect with my friends and clients (which are my friends too :D). So… here it is.

You know, actually this feels great. I can say whatever I want. Well.. it’s my blog and my own site… Right? 😀
