Cass Scenic Railroad Trip

June 28th, 2009

My family and few friends went to Cass for a weekend getaway on early June. It was a 4.5 hours scenic railroad trip on the mountains of West Virginia. We were told about this trip by our friend Ray.

I was commissioned by the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company to cover a grant acceptance event at United Communities Volunteer Fire Department. After scouting the location for the event on the next day, we decided to check out the pier at Romancoke, Kent Island, since it was just down the street from the firehouse. It was such a beautiful but rather windy afternoon. Lots of people were fishing there. The water is quite deep but not quite transparent.

Marcell’s Birthday

May 7th, 2009

Finally, I got a chance to breath and catch up with my blog again.  Phew… :p

Marcell’s birthday was in March. BTW, see any similarities between his name and the month? That’s exactly why we picked the name Marcellus. The name itself means “little warrior”, which we realized later that it actually fits his character well.

Anyway, the party was bigger than last year because this time Marcell had his school friends as well. He actually wanted to invite everyone from school! But we told him we couldn’t have everyone, since our house is small, and also due to budget constraint of course. Yup, it’s never to early to teach ‘em some money management. :) So we settled with inviting friends from his grade and their siblings.

We rented a moonbounce so that the kids could have self-entertained fun. We got it from the same place as last year, Tents 4 Rent, but since there were more kids, we opted for a larger one plus that it has more added features i.e. slide and and basketball ring.

Birthday cake… custom made by Icing for Joy.

Yes, I’m late again posting this blog for the same lame excuse, busy with work. But hey, at least I post it. :p

This was a Valentine’s Day celebration at Kent Island Christian School. The school called it “Love Your Neighbors Day”.

Snow Day on Kent Island

April 14th, 2009

The winter has been mostly warm during the beginning of the season until finally it snowed one day in January. The snow wasn’t high, but schools including Queen Anne’s County decided to close anyway.  Marcell joined Camden for sledding at the K-Mart Stevensville Park and Ride. There were slopes surrounding the parking lot. The place had been a common place for sledding. Marcell also met new friends, Cooper and Jake.

KIVFD Carnival

October 23rd, 2008

It was actually the first time we went to the carnival. The carnival is held every summer hosted by the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department. If it was not for promoting our school, KICS, we probably wouldn’t go there. :D No, wait, I take that back. We did plan to go to the carnival, but because of the KICS event, it solidified our plan. :)

Marcell, met several friends there, and did few rides together. The parents mostly just took them to whatever ride they wanted and watched them. My wife and I enjoyed the funnel cake though. It was always one of our favorite food during carnivals or any outdoor events.

Kent Island Cross Island Trail

October 21st, 2008

One morning in June, I decided to take Marcell to the Cross Island Trail, which is in Kent Island. A lot of people run, walk, or ride a bike there. It was actually my first time there. Yeah, I know. Shame on me, right? :P Well I had meant to do it since… well, a few years ago… but never got a chance to do it. In other words, never really put effort into making a plan to do it. :P

It was a spur of the moment decision, but we’re glad we went there. We saw beautiful or strange-looking wild flowers, plants and trees. We heard the birds singing. We even enjoyed the warm sun rays squeezing its way through the tree leaves and branches on that slightly chilly morning.

Cherry Blossom Festival 2008

October 16th, 2008

Hey, not too bad. Three blog posts in one day! :D

Our family went to see the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. It always held around the blooming period of the cherry blossom trees in Washington DC. We then went to meet our friends and had picnic under the trees.

My wife Pat and Marcell at the National Building Museum. Notice the giant pink cherry blossom balloons in the background.

Birthday: Marcell

October 16th, 2008

Ugh, it’s been so hectic for me that I barely had time to update my blog. Yes, it’s soo behind. But I really do intend to get it catch up with the more recent events. I’ve been so busy with my business. Which is actually good. :)

Anyway, here are some images from my son’s birthday. He’s 6 years old now.

This was back in March. It was raining on and off on that day. There were some gusty winds as well. It was unfortunate for us because we had planned to setup a  moonbounce. The guy we rented from told us to take down the moonbounce once it started raining. We could get it up again if the rain stopped. We had to take it down and get it up twice that day.
