Children: Helena + Vivian

May 11th, 2010

I got a last minute call from a family whom I photographed the past summer (same year). They wanted me to do another session on Tilghman Island, but just the children this time.  They wanted the pictures for Christmas.

Unfortunately, they could only do it on the same day where I already had two sessions! However, the first session with Adele the book writer, was very early in the morning, and the engagement session would be late in the afternoon. So I was able to squeeze in another session for that day later in the morning, which works pretty well for all of us.

High School Senior: Marissa

April 15th, 2010

This is my first full session of high school senior portrait. Well sort of…

Marissa supposed to graduate this year along with her other classmates. However, she graduated a year early, and is now in college. Way to go Marissa! :)

Nevertheless, she wanted to do this senior photo session anyway. I’m honored to have her as my first. :)

I knew Marissa through Facebook through other friends, and she is one of the most nicest/politest person in FB. I think Marissa is a beautiful person not only on the outside, but also inside. :)

I knew Renee way back when we used to work for one company. We had lost contact until about a year ago we met again through Facebook. Thank you Facebook! :D

Renee saw my photography work and became interested in having her family and her brother’s family photographed for Christmas cards and for themselves.

She wanted to do the photo session in fall to get the warm foliage colors.  So I suggested that we do it at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis.

We had to postpone from the original scheduled date due to the weather. We were lucky that we finally got a great weather and still had some fall colors. This was early November last year.

Here is my most favorite shot from the session because it shows the children’s characters, their unique expressions. :)

I got this shot after they became more comfortable with me and trusted me.

It wasn’t easy during the first few minutes though. :D

Commercial Work: Eva + Chris

March 10th, 2010

Late October last year, one of my friend asked me if I could take pictures of her children for comp cards. I said, “Sure!”

It was supposed to be in mid October but it rained that weekend, so we decided to postpone it to the next weekend.

We were lucky that the next weekend we got a good weather. Our prayers were answered! :)

The session was supposed to be at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, but for some reason there was a traffic backup at the Bay Bridge. Not sure what happened. I couldn’ get through and we’re running out of daylight. Fortunately, Heidy was kind enough to offer herself to drive to Kent Island. I found this small picnic park with a pond. We were lucky to get some fall colored trees as well.

Anyway, here’s Eva.

Family Session: Shane Family

October 7th, 2009

I did another family session at Kent Island last summer, or end of summer. No little children this time. All of them are already grown up. :)

It was also a family reunion, celebrating Mom and Dad’s wedding anniversary. The photo session was actually a gift from the children to their parents.

The Shane family originally wanted to do the session in Annapolis as well, but then they rather maximize their time on Kent Island. So we did the session at Matapeake Beach, one of the Chesapeake Bay beaches.

Steve who found me on Google searched for a fun family portrait session. He liked my photography style and said that “the pictures brings out the personality”. He called me from California and booked me. :D

One day, back in July, I got a phone call from a family in Washington DC who planned to have a birthday party and a family reunion at Tilghman Island, Eastern Shore Maryland.

They found me through Google and called me. After talking on the phone and discussed with the rest of the family, they thought that I would be the perfect photographer for the day to document the event.  They liked the fact that I have a child also and thus would be able to handle children. :)

Here’s the second part of Naomi and Dhimas’ wedding, the reception, which is usually the fun part :)

As usual, the family members, groom party, and bridal party line up to get introduced to the guests. Here’s Nindya, Dhimas’ niece, in her Balinese dance costume, waiting for her turn to enter the ballroom.

Back in mid April I got a call from San Fransisco (I recognized the area code).  Apparently, it was from the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company (FFIC).  They said that they liked my photography style.  They wanted to hire me to cover a grant-receiving event for the United Communities Volunteer Fire Department (UCVFD) at Romancoke.  I was the first photographer on their list, so they really hoped that I could do it.  I was excited and told them that it would be an honor for me to cover the event.

The grant was from Papa John’s Pizza, recommended by Glenn Jones, Vice President of Operations, also a Kent Island native. The fund will be used for audio visual equipment in a new station training center and classroom.
